<p>Hi everybody, in this video I show you how to strengthen and tone your abdominal muscles and butt (gluteus maximus muscles) using a simple standing technique with weights.  This is a wonderful exercise to add to your sit ups and crunches routine to make sure you target your core so that you can achieve that flat strong stomach.  The added bonus is that it also works your butt and hamstring muscles.  You can do this exercise at the gym or at home. I recommend doing it at least 3 times per week. <p>&#8220;Hanging Hip Lifts&#8221; is one of the most challenging exercises for preferential activation of the &#8220;lower&#8221; abdominal muscles.  The secret in performing this movement correctly is the rotation of the hips and a distinct pause at the top of each repetition.</p>
<p>Your abs contract on a continuum of graduated activation, in this case, from lower to upper.  You cant totally isolate a specific region, but you can focus on it&#8230; and this exercise is phenomenal if you want to contract your abs from the bottom up.  The key is to make these as slow and as deliberate as possible.</p>
