The Abs Diet For Women- Just another Low-Carb Diet?

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

I am planning to purchase this book based on a recomendation. Can someone give me just the basics of the plan. Is it based on a low-carb lifestyle?

Thanks!

No. It’s based on twelve foods you should eat. They include things like oatmeal, whey protein, blueberrys, almonds and other nuts. There are a series of weight lifting exercises and you alternate these with cardio (I do walking). The diet is great if you can afford the foods. You get to eat six small meals per day. I like it because you don’t pay hundreds of dollars for it. Your initial investment is the book, you buy the food anyway, and you have the option of purchasing the weights and ball.

You can use a chair and milk jugs instead if you have to.
You can get a better idea of it at the men’s health website. Check it out before you buy the book.

What are some suggestions on snacks if you are on ‘The Abs Diet"?

Dried fruits as apples, pinneple , raisin dried fruit are better to carry around. Fruits that is not good is banana and avocado.
Lemon juice is really good.
Avoid carbs at night time.

How effective is the Abs Diet for women? Please, only those who have completed at least 6 weeks on the plan.?

Monday, December 14th, 2009

I’m 5′4.5",167 lbs. I’ve already lost weight on another eating plan (Mayo Clinic Healthy Weight Pyramid; I dropped from 185 to 171 lbs.), but my busy schedule (full-time student, married and an indie film actress), I was not able to always measure the portions of my food. So, I decided to go on the Abs diet as well as drink 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar each morning (to get toxins out of my body), which brought me to my present weight. I was just wondering if any other women have completed at least 6 weeks on the diet, and what were your results?

There is an "Abs Diet for Woman" but…I stuck to the original Abs Diet by David Z. I found this more effective than any other "diet" and "weight loss program" due to the ease and simplicity of it.

The only thing I would advise is to prepare all the foods, smoothies, snacks, etc. in advance. Or you might get to lazy and eat other stuff. Also another book he wrote, "The Eat Right Every time Book” has healthy alternatives for restaurants, fast food places, etc.

Run outdoors if you can, it’s more beneficial than the mill.

Measuring the foods shouldn’t be a problem since you’ll get a sense of what’s too much and your body will tell you. All the foods are packed with vitamins, protein, fiber, and all that good stuff. Especially since you’re drinking the smoothies!

Just follow the outline on eating and exercising and you’ll see results. The schedules fit my busy lifestyle, I was a full time student and full time employee among other organizations when I started.

Before you start exercising you might want to "eat right" according to his plan so that you can get used to the foods and it’s preparation.

I was able to shed off 12 lbs in the 6 weeks. Ever since last year I’ve stuck to this lifestlye! (You might lose more due to your height and weight. I started at 120 at 4′11" now I am at 101). However, my Mom and b/f immediately took notice after I was on it for less than month. Now I am more energized and loving myself more and more. I am hooked on those darn smoothies as well!

Shoot me an email if you have any other questions or if you need some encouragement!

Sorry so long….ugh!

Gaining weight on the "Abs Diet for Women"?

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

I recently started following "The Abs Diet for Women" written by the editor of Men’s Health. I really like the food plan because you eat 6 times a day. However, after a week of working out and following the plan, I have actually gained 2 lbs!

Is this normal when starting a diet that requires you to eat several meals and lift weights?

hmm..this has me debating to start. i bought it several months ago and thought i would try it this week (vacation from high school..). maybe it is that you are gaining muscle from lifting?

How can I make the abs diet for women work with no meat?

Monday, December 7th, 2009

Now if you havn’t read the book, it’s not a diet. It’s a lifestyle change. Although, it is high in protein. And one of the 12 power foods is lean meat but the only meat I eat is chicken, and so I need some alternatives to meat. Seeing as though I can’t have that all day long! haha.

Since you are a women you can substitute soy protein foods for some of the meat. meat substitute foods made with soy or TVP are fine. You just want to avoid the carbs so look at the labels. Tofu, since it is fermented soy, is OK for men and women.
Read the book and other info you will find that whole milk concentrates like full fat cottage cheese is good, low carbs, high protein and useful fat.
All fowl is good and fish is great. If you are of child bearing age go towards smaller cold water fish like sardines and anchovies or wild salmon and herrings (they have less to no mercury).

Your protein to carb rate needs to be 70% protein to 30% Carbs.
Increase your water intake.

How do you do the "Abs Diet" for women?

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

I’m reading the book, "Abs Diet" It seems to be written for men. I’m a woman, 33, I’d like to lose about 10 lbs, mostly around the middle. Will this diet really work for me? Should I adapt it for a woman, I guess eat about half of the food suggested?

There is a book by the same author called ‘Abs Diet for Women.’ It’s a green book. I bought it and read it, but there were just too many guidelines that I got lost in it. I like for any diet I do to be easy and straight-forward. But there is a book just for women if you’d like to try it.

what is the easiest and fastest way to get flat abs, diet and exercise tricks without doing over 200 crunches?

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

What are some diet and exercise tricksor tips to getting flat abs FAST without doing more than 200 crunches a day. I would love to look good in less than 2 weeks (no necessarily flat but more toned)

Not going to happen. Having a fit, toned body takes commitment, and it takes time. You must first get there by healthy eating and exercise. Spot training by doing a lot of crunches isn’t necessarily going to help! 50 crunches done properly is going to get you a lot further than 200 done improperly. If you are doing 200, and haven’t been otherwise exercising, my guess (and I concede I could be wrong) is that you are not doing them properly. If you do ab work properly, you should fatigue before you get to 200 reps.

We would all like to look good in less than 2 weeks….and unfortunately, most of us think that if we starve ourselves and lose weight, we will. When we lose weight too rapidly, we lose muscle, which makes our problem worse because muscle is necessary for a toned look.

Is there a way to make the Abs diet vegetarian?

has anyone tried the abs diet?

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

i was wondering if anyone has tried the abs diet and if you have what were the results? i want to try it out, but i don’t know if its a gimmick or not, and what kind of results to expect. I don’t wanna get like swoll and ripped but more lean and cut, so if this book helped with that it would be awesome. thanks all!

It will work if combined with the right workout.

Variety of exercise is the key I have found. For example..an exercise called Mountain Climbers. Its from a workout that also contains a section for females and males which is excellent.

Mountain climbers are done by starting in a pushup position
and then shuffling your feet in and out so that your knees are
moving in under your chest and then back out to starting
position. It sort of resembles climbing a mountain but flat on
the floor. If you want an advanced version, you can also shuffle your hands 8-10 inches forward and backward in
addition to the leg movements. This really makes it a full
body exercise and MUCH more difficult than standard mountain climbers.

After finishing each exercise, rest about 30 seconds before
starting the next exercise. Rest about 1-2 minutes after
completing each "tri-set" before repeating.

This will give you one of the best ab workouts you’ve ever had
without even doing any direct ab exercises. You’ll see what I
mean after you try it!

Once you get away from the myth that a 1000 crunches and 500 situps a day is all you need to do for great abs, then amazing results can be seen.

There is a completely free 65 page ebook about exercise, nutrition, abs and stomaches in particular at http://www.stayprotected.com that you can download (no catch!) and it is excellent.

It helped me greatly.

What is the best work out/diet to get 6-pack abs?

Saturday, November 14th, 2009

i am a fit guy, but i really want to develop more defined abs. what are the best kinds of workouts to develop defined abs? also, what is the proper diet (what foods should i eat or not eat) to attain this?

Hi Micheal,

Well even I want to get those… but im lil fat lolz…

well regarding diet.

Eat small meals throughout the day
Whole wheat bread as my main supply of carbs
Fish as my main supply of protien
Plenty of fruit and veggies
Good breakfast
Very few fried foods, sweets and fatty foods.

Jog and walk for an hour with plenty of push ups and crunches.

Run for about 30 minutes every day, and do more than crunches if you want those 6-pack abs. Do lower ab workouts too. If you really want to burn fat, here is a secret. Run before you eat ANYTHING during the day..

I hope this helps out…. All da best buddy….

I recently started the Abs diet and now i am breaking out?

Sunday, November 1st, 2009

The abs diet requires alot of nuts and peanut butter, but it has taken a toll on my skin! What can i do to reduce the breakouts?

I’m not familiar with the Abs diet, but increase your pure water intake. Wash twice daily with a moisturizing cleanser and exfoliate once a week with a lufa.

Whats the best excercise/diet to get those Abs everyone wants?

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

I’m really more concerned with the right excercises to do that are the most effective in building abs, but any diet tips would be appreciated too.

Despite what you think, ab exercises are NOT the number one thing you need to do for flat abs. In fact, getting flat abs requires hard work, commitment and something else you have no control over: cooperative genes.

The only way to get flat abs is to lose body fat and you already know what that requires:

1. Regular cardio exercise
2. Strength Training for the ENTIRE BODY (treating the abs just like any other muscle in the body)
3. A healthy, low-calorie diet

You must get all three of these (especially your diet) right on a consistent basis in order to even get close to flat abs. And, something else important: If you’ve lost body fat and you still don’t have flat abs, don’t be terribly surprised. Many of us will never see that six-pack because:

* The body fat level required to get flat abs is lower than you can sustain with your current lifestyle/schedule, or
* The body fat level required is lower than is healthy for your body to function.

So, even if you follow a perfect program and a perfect diet, flat abs still may elude you. Does that mean you should give up? You shouldn’t give up on exercise but, maybe, giving up the ideal of six-pack abs is exactly what you need to make your life better.

You are best off lowering your calorie intake and doing some extra cardio every day (biking, running) for at least 30 minutes. That will help you lose the body fat needed to start seeing your abs.

What you suggest for an abs diet?

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

For some one who has 14 percent bodyfat, what foods would you suggest for snacking, lunch and dinner, what worked for you?

Cardio and diet are vital to chiseled abs. Every morning I have oatmeal and three eggs to start the day. Basically I eat lean protein (chicken, fish, egg whites). A moderate amount of fruits and veggies are important for overall heath and fitness. I try to avoid red meats. Some fats are healthy and good to include in a diet, olive oil and mixed nuts. I try to run atleast 4 miles every night. I don’t eat carbs after I run, so they body will burn the existing any existing calories instead. This helps keep you lean and vascular, also in this state it is easier to build, tone muscle. Make this a lifestyle and I promise you you will see a difference. Let me know if you need any more advice.

A good workout routine I do is….I work out every single day on a 4 day cycle. That means a different muscle group each of the 4 days. Day 1 is chest and tris. Day 2 is back and biceps. Day 3 is legs. Day 4 is shoulders. Do 12-15 intense reps for each exercise, not necessarily heavy, just enough to push yourself. Good luck!
