Does doing sit-ups daily actually help flatten out your abs?
Basically, do sit-ups really help?
I hear a lot about how sit-ups don’t actually help much.
Well most people think that if they do a thousand sit ups or crunches they’ll get a flat stomach.
Sorry – not true.
You cannot choose where you put on weight so I don’t know why people think they can lose it from where they want either.
The best way to lose weight or firm or tone anything is cardio cardio cardio. For stomach the best machine is the stationary bike, but don’t forget the treadmill or stepper or cross trainer.
So if you do 4-5 days of 45mins cardio a week, you will lose weight or tone your stomach. You have to eat reasonably healthy but if you do this exercise you will lose weight.
When you do cardio your heart rate rises and your body will respond to crunches or situps better – so you can do 100 sit ups or crunches after a run on the treadmill and 15 mins on the stepper and get the same result from doing 1000 morning and night every day for 3 months. But with cardio combined with crunches you’ll see result in 3-4 weeks.
Also pilates or even that swiss ball is great for your stomach coz you have to concentrate and build your core muscles, which is your stomach, but that takes longer =]
Hope this helps!

no, sit-ups crunches etc
BUILD the muscles for abs etc
things like yoga and pilates concentrate on core exercises which in turn flatten your stomach from the inside. targetting the muscles DEEP down!
Lie on the floor you’ll notice that your WHOLE back is not flat on the ground. flatten it so your WHOLE back is touchign the floor, the muscles you use in your lower abdomen to do this are the ones that you want to target when you’re doing yoga or pilates!
Hope this helps!

sit-ups build ab muscle, which is not usually what women want. Try planks instead. get into a push-up position, but instead put your forarms together and directly underneath you on the floor. Hold for up to 15 seconds three times. Best to start with 3 reps of 5 seconds. This strengthens the muscles without bulking them up, which causes them to bulge out.

Of course crunches help you get those nice abs however only a good diet will get rid of the fat that blocks the view of these sexy muscles.
Arnold Schwarzenegger says abs are made in the kitchen not in the gym. Bradd Pitt doesn’t do any crunches at all to prepare for his movies and look at his abs! Any human would love to have abs like that.
However pretty much every movement you make involves your abs so exercising them is a great idea!
