What do you do to work on your abs?

I want to tighten my stomach up and slim it down a bit

Any tips please?

To slim down your stomach you need to do cardiovascular exercises. Treadmill, swimming, what ever you like. By doing that it will reduce the fat all over your body, especially in your stomach. A lot of people ask how they get their abs to show (with fat on their stomach)-it’s not possible. You will first have to get your body fat percentage quite a bit lower.

Once you start getting a flatter stomach, try doing daily crunches. Do some with your knees straight up, then turn your hips to one side and do some more. That will get all-around results.

If I were you, a gym membership would greatly help you. There you will find machines used specifically for your abdominal muscles.

    I do yoga stretches and pilates, which I do with videos. They’re pretty good, I find, for core strength. If I’m feeling really motivated, I start with a 20 minute Biggest Loser cardio workout…I like old Bob. But mostly the first two. You can buy DVDs of any of these cheaply (buy "gently used" ones for a buck on Amazon), or if you have cable TV, there’s always a fitness channel somewhere, or even a fitness category on your OnDemand options, if you have that.

    But for just burning calories and all over exercise, I go to the local pool for an hour. It’s easy on the joints, fun, and very effective! Plus it burns calories like mad.

    Basically, Running helps your body all over. It tightens you abbs, helps you lose weight, tones your whole body, works your arms, and back…..all over!

    Yoga or Pilates can also help. It will work on your balance, and help tone you up.
