can i do the abs diet?

i am a female and i am looking into doing the abs diet. the book though states a lot about men and bodybuilders. can i still do this diet, even though i am a female? and of course i dont want a bodybuilders body! help please!

Yes you can. Although the book was written by the Editor in Chief of Mens Health magazine he designed the book to be for men and women. Some of the success stories in the book are from women. It’s not really so much a diet either, as it is a lifestyle guide. The Abs Diet Power foods for instance are great recommendations for any person.

Take almonds for instance. Experts around the world are united in their view of the health benefits that almonds provide to both men and women. In fact, recently in Fitness Magazine (for women), they listed Almonds as one of their top 5 foods for burning belly fat.

The foods the book lists are to help shed fat and keep your metabolism high so that you will see your abs. The exercises are geared so that either men or women can perform them. Take for instance the bicep curl. For men looking to get big arms they would use heavy weight for 6-10 reps. For women looking to tone their arms they can use light weight for 15-25 reps. So yes the book can certainly be enjoyed by women and I certainly recommend you give it a try because it is a good read and a good program.

i am a teen.i weight 124.if you look at my body straight,it looks okay but when you look side ways,it looks fat(not that fat).i would like to weight 115.HELP!!!!!!!!!

You can work on your abs with any ab exercise, try the ball, it works them the most and can be done at home. But you can’t get rid of body fat on the abdomen with strengthening exercises. They will look great once you lose the weight. You need to do heavy cardio as much as possible and eat small meals, like six a day, with lots of protein and fruits and veggies. Eat more nutrient rich foods with less calories. Calcium is a big factor, like low fat yogurt and cottage cheese, calcium helps the muscles so much…and I’m not talking just skeletal muscle (on your bones). Your smooth muscle in the vessels benefit from calcium meaning they can pump your blood faster during cardio, giving you the ability to do heavier work outs. Focus on health and fitness, not weight loss and you’ll see more results. If you just stop eating you lose muscle….try and cut 500 calories a day with increasing your activity. That habit has better long term results. And you shouldn’t weigh less, you will weigh the same but have less body fat.

What is the best natural diet to go on if you want six pack abs? I would appreciate if you told me how many meals to eat, what time to eat the meal, and what should be in the meal. Please dont tell me about any pills or protein shakes or protein powders because i dont like doing that kind of artificial stuff. Thanks in advance.

Break your meals up into 6 small meals a day. As far as diet, it’s common sense stuff, if it seems like you shouldn’t eat something, you probably shouldn’t eat it. Just make sure you have a balanced diet that is relatively low in fat. Run/ jog/walk in the morning before you eat if possible while your body is in a naturally hypoglycemic state, experts say this is when you are most likely to burn up fat stores. Other than that a good regular weightlifting routine is essential. Make sure you are tightening your core muscles when you do all exercises, don’t cheat! If you put on enough muscle your body will burn off more fat naturally. With a combination of diet and exercise you should get those abs eventually, but don’t be discouraged, it takes awhile for some people.

I’m actually not a fat person at all, I’m 15 pounds and I’m around 125 pounds. But I have alot of stomach fat? How do I lose it? If you have any suggestions from the gym great, because I got a membership at a gym. If you have any good food suggestions thats great too!

cardio is what you want to do to get rid of the fat, weights to build the muscle.
eat clean food, no processed shit. get lots of protein into you. drrink water instead of juice or soda.

Do Pilates help flatten your abs?

I joined a gym about 6 weeks ago and the weights are starting to tone my muscles but I really want my stomach to be flat again. They have pilate classes there twice a week and I’m thinking of going to them. Does anyone know if they do help flatten your abs?

Pilates strengthens your core muscles, not the outermost muscles such as abdominals. Pilates does tone your muscles, and works around the center(core) but it won’t give you flat abs.

I need to lose my stomach fat as soon as possible! What is a quick and healthy way to lose weight? Is there a certain exercises? What do I need to do?

Ab work outs will not make you lose stomach fat. I can’t tell you how many people have come to me saying they want a 6-pack, and ask what ab work outs I recommend.
To lose stomach fat, you have to do cardio. The stomach fat is by far the hardest to get rid of. The fastest way to do this, will take you more than a month(depending how much stomach fat you have).
Run at least 30 minutes a day, for 4-5 days a week. You have to get your metabolism up, and burn calories. Running is the best way to do both of these.
If you’re one of those people that absolutely can not run, swimming is also a great cardio work out. Swim for 30 minutes 4-5 days a week.
Or you can ride your bike for cardio, but you will have to spend at least an hour to get the same work out.

I’ve been using a ab frame to do a couple o hundread situps last few days and today i went for a cycle for a hour. I have a healthy dieat and have been cutting back on carbs. will this help me tone up my stomach?? Also how long should i be exercising for and how many times a week??

One of the first things to point out about shaping up your abs is that as long as you have fat over them, they will never look how you want.

You could do 1000 sit ups a day for 5 years, but if you are overweight or have more then a little fat on your body, they won’t come.

First things first, keep up the diet and cardio. If you keep these up it will be a huge step toward your flat abs.

The next thing is trying to do more then just the ab frame. Switch it up and add more. There are millions of ab exercises that are simple, work you out amazingly, and require no equipment to do. One program that I have seen work hundreds of times is the original 8 minutes abs. You can find it on lime wire or any file download service. It is short, but to the point and works out all areas of your abs. Throw that into your routine along with your diet and cardio and you will be surprised how far you come.
