Hi all, so i’m 19, and i’m trying to build up my arms and get rid of the slight fat cover on my abs. So it’s kind of difficult to actually build up muscles and make abs, since you have to eat to build muscles and eat less to remove that fat on your belly.
What to eat, what to exercise.
Any tips please, detailed.
Thanks all and many love!!
Keep your foods low in fat, and high in protein. This will help you gain muscle while not taking in too much excess fat. (A balanced diet should still include some fat, so don’t exclude it altogether.) Also, muscles store energy, so as they get larger, you’ll find that it’s easier to burn away excess fat.
It never hurts to do some aerobic exercises like running or cycling as well to help trim fat.

I have frequent back pain and I heard that regular abs workout could help with that. I ride my bike 1-2 hours every 2-3 days and I swim about 1-4 hours each week, none of which seem to stimulate my abs or lessen my back problems.
The "Women’s Lib" position works wonders. You work out the abs of both people at the same time.

I know it sounds like a stupid question, but how is it that some belly dancers have flat stomachs and look tone and still can move like snakes. I know that one of the benefits of belly dancing is toning but I dont want my stomach to be tight I just want it flat and flexible
It’s true that if you have six-pack abs, you’ll find it harder to do belly rolls. Strength and flexibility are at opposite ends of the spectrum – just like most rugby players can’t kick their leg very high, because they’ve built up short bulky muscles instead of long streamlined ones.
However, it’s perfectly possible to have a flattish stomach and still do belly rolls, provided you practise stomach crunching exercises AND belly roll exercises together. If you have very little fat on your stomach, belly rolls will be harder to see, that’s all.

What are the best exercises to lose belly/stomach fat quickly?
There is NO THING like spot weight reduction. If you take care of your diet and exercise regularly , you loose weight all over. And as a principle when you gain weight it shows easily and primarily on stomach (and thighs, butts) so when you loose weight you will first feel the difference in stomach (and thighs, butts). Your clothes will be easier fit from stomach.
Do cardio and abs. Sit ups dont reduce stomach fat but tone up the muscles.
All the best

I’d like to tone up for spring. I’m not overweight, but over the winter I havn’t been exercising much and I’d like to get back into shape.
I’m mainly targeting my upper arms, upper legs, and abs. I also don’t have any fancy equipment or a gym membership, so I’d to know some exercises I can do at home. Any info will be helpful.
Thanks
push ups…..sit up….. and lunges..

You could join a sport at school like cross country running, they train in the summer, or take up a Karate class, they have workouts that get you in shape fast. If those options don’t can’t work for you. try this:
push-ups
squats
spider climbs
high knees
do 10 of each 3 times
do it two days a week for about 3 weeks, then do it three days and jog two days a week.make sure you eat properly.
here are some helpful sites.

Every once and awhile, like in the beginning of my ab workout, I will feel my lower abs working when I get to a lower ab exercise, but then, as I progress into my workout, my upper abs and lower back start kicking in, like their trying to do the work instead. How can I prevent this, or fix this problem!?!?!?!?! Thanks for your help!=)
I need some good lower ab exercises.. Maybe pause for a minute or two and then start your workout over.

I’m going to the gym and going to work with my trainer to develop some routine ab exercises, but what can I eat to flatten my stomach and make sure it doesn’t get any bigger??
Chicken??
I know avoid fried foods but what else??
Basically what should I eat so my stomach doesn’t get any bigger??
For abs you need to cut fat so eat anything really light, and low fat %
yogurt, fish, fruits, vegetables, nuts…

I’m 5′4.5",167 lbs. I’ve already lost weight on another eating plan (Mayo Clinic Healthy Weight Pyramid; I dropped from 185 to 171 lbs.), but my busy schedule (full-time student, married and an indie film actress), I was not able to always measure the portions of my food. So, I decided to go on the Abs diet as well as drink 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar each morning (to get toxins out of my body), which brought me to my present weight. I was just wondering if any other women have completed at least 6 weeks on the diet, and what were your results?
There is an "Abs Diet for Woman" but…I stuck to the original Abs Diet by David Z. I found this more effective than any other "diet" and "weight loss program" due to the ease and simplicity of it.
The only thing I would advise is to prepare all the foods, smoothies, snacks, etc. in advance. Or you might get to lazy and eat other stuff. Also another book he wrote, "The Eat Right Every time Book” has healthy alternatives for restaurants, fast food places, etc.
Run outdoors if you can, it’s more beneficial than the mill.
Measuring the foods shouldn’t be a problem since you’ll get a sense of what’s too much and your body will tell you. All the foods are packed with vitamins, protein, fiber, and all that good stuff. Especially since you’re drinking the smoothies!
Just follow the outline on eating and exercising and you’ll see results. The schedules fit my busy lifestyle, I was a full time student and full time employee among other organizations when I started.
Before you start exercising you might want to "eat right" according to his plan so that you can get used to the foods and it’s preparation.
I was able to shed off 12 lbs in the 6 weeks. Ever since last year I’ve stuck to this lifestlye! (You might lose more due to your height and weight. I started at 120 at 4′11" now I am at 101). However, my Mom and b/f immediately took notice after I was on it for less than month. Now I am more energized and loving myself more and more. I am hooked on those darn smoothies as well!
Shoot me an email if you have any other questions or if you need some encouragement!
Sorry so long….ugh!

I have been training in fitness centre from the last 2 months, and although there is already a change in my abs, I wanted to know how long it would take to get a kind of shape (not like a professionnal bodybuilder though).
Also now I have a job, and I cannot exercise daily. I wanted to know whether 3 times a week is acceptable for keeping the shape I have acquired.
Also if you know any abs-exercises, I would be very happy if you could tell me.
Thank you very much.
it should take about 1 more month to see a shape if you work HARD. if you workout for the same then you just keep your abs the way they are now.
3 times a week is excellant!! keep it up

I cant do crunches because of my back (I had surgery and its physically impossible for me to curl in that way)
Anyone know of any other exercises?
Getting a nice set of abs is such a misunderstood process. It’s actually a lot easier than most people think which is why most people are in a never ending quest to get that perfect six pack – it’s because they’re doing all the wrong things.
When you eat more calories than you burn, your body takes those extra calories and stores them as fat somewhere on your body. For some people, the #1 fat storage area is around the thighs and for others it might be around the stomach – it differs from person to person. Sometimes the fat is perfectly distributed around the body so it’s not as big of a concern.
If an excessive amount of fat is stored around your stomach, the reason that you’re not seeing your abs is because your body fat percentage is too high. What you need to do is create a calorie deficit (take in less calories than you burn) so that your body is forced to use its fat stores for energy. After a few weeks of doing this, you’ll notice that your abs will start to show.
You first step is to figure out how many calories you burn each day. Use this calculator http://calorieneedscalculator.com for an estimate. Now you need to increase the amount of calories you burn by exercising more and decreasing the amount of calories you eat. Cut out junk food such as fast food, candy and sugar. Eat foods that are high in fiber: bread and pasta made from 100% whole wheat, brown rice, oats, fruits and vegetables.
You shouldn’t ignore targeting your abs with sit ups, leg raises and twists but doing hundreds of sit ups won’t do anything about the layer of fat that is covering them. Cardio and calorie restriction should be your main focus. If you need more details on getting a six pack, visit The Guide to Getting Nice Abs – http://www.straightabs.com

will this do anything for my abs?
don’t train them when they’re sore, you’ll overtrain them and you won’t gain anything, you should only be training them 2 (maybe 3) times a week, if you’re still sore I’d just skip in tbh
also, train different abs on different days, like I do obliques one day, lower 2 days later, upper on the last, and inner every training session so I don’t overtrain
